Scale the Depths Review

A new series
Hey everyone, Alex here, A couple weeks ago I played one of the indie-games we follow on Instagram called Scale the Depths, by Glass Gecko Games. This was the first of small indie-games we decided to play, and make a video about. The idea being that we can have fun playing new games and also support new creators by sharing their work with our followers.
Visuals, music & Scottish lore
The setting was chill, everything was close together so nothing felt like a slog. The music supported each activity well, suiting the intentions of each part! The visuals were very cute, the fish were vibrant, the environment palette supported the peaceful vibes the game created, and there was minimal gore which was a good choice for fish preperation. Each fish had various facts about that fish too! Which was a cool little addition that made the game that much more intricate and special. I can only imagine with the amount of fish there are on earth, that the creator could have a lot of fun with this, I certainly did not know most of the fish in the game before I started, and by goodness there are a lot more fish to come by the looks of it! Exploring in the depths, I found a couple of secrets which were nicely tucked away. For a demo to have secrets, to me, implies that the full game itself is bound to have a bunch! There was some Scottish game lore in there about Loch Ness too, so extra points for that!
The demo lasted about an hour or so, and by the end I could have played more if I hadn't have reached the bottom like the epic gamer I am. I can only assume that with the full game, new maps, more space, and of course more fish, will mean a lot more gaming time! The style suits both long chilled out sessions, and dabbling in and out of the game every so often for fun. And that is the most important part for me, is it fun? Yes, Scale the Depths was very fun!
